JESUS
What Kind of Man Is This?
Matthew 8:
23 Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him.
24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep.
25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!"
26 But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
27 So the men marveled, saying,
"Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?"
IT IS GOD WHO CONTROLS THE WINDS & WAVES:
Ps 89:7-9
"... O Lord God of hosts, Who is mighty like You, O Lord? ...You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.
Ps 104:1-7
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great: You are clothed with honor and majesty,
... The waters stood above the mountains. At Your rebuke they fled; At the voice of Your thunder they hastened away.
Isaiah 51:10
"Are You not the One who dried up the sea, The waters of the great deep; That made the depths of the sea a road For the redeemed to cross over?
ONLY GOD CAN FORGIVE SIN
JESUS HAS AUTHORITY OVER SIN
AND FORGAVE A MAN, THEN HEALED HIM TO PROVE IT.
JESUS IS GOD!
Matthew 9:1-7
"...they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you. 3 And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, "This Man blasphemes!" 4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Arise and walk'? 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins"--then He said to the paralytic, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house." 7 And he arose and departed to his house. "
JESUS HAS AUTHORITY OVER THE SUPERNATURAL
JESUS HEALED TWO UNCONTROLLABLE MAD MEN,
DRIVING THE DEMONS OUT OF THEM.
EVEN THE DEVIL HAS TO OBEY JESUS, WHO IS GOD THE SON.
Matthew 8:1-7
"28 When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way. 29 And suddenly they cried out, saying, "What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?" 30 Now a good way off from them there was a herd of many swine feeding. 31 So the demons begged Him, saying, "If You cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of swine." 32 And He said to them, "Go." So when they had come out, they went into the herd of swine. And suddenly the whole herd of swine ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and perished in the water.
JESUS HAS AUTHORITY OVER DEATH
JESUS GAVE LIFE TO THE DAUGHTER OF THE RULER OF THE SYNAGOGUE!
JESUS IS GOD!
Matthew 9:18-26
"...behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live." ... When Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, He said to them, "Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping." And they ridiculed Him. But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26 And the report of this went out into all that land.and perished in the water.
JESUS EXALTED ABOVE THE ANGELS
WHEN JESUS BECAME A MAN-A SON TO GOD, THE FATHER DIRECTED THE ANGELS TO WORSHIP JESUS AND THE FATHER-GOD REFERS TO HIS SON AS GOD.
Hebrews 1:5-8
“ 5 For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”?
And again:
“I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son”?
6 But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “LET ALL THE ANGELS OF GOD WORSHIP HIM.”
7 And of the angels He says: “Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire.”
8 BUT TO THE SON HE SAYS: “YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER;”
JESUS RETURNS AS PROMISED
AFTER WAITING FOR HIM, JESUS RETURNS AS OUR GOD
God Came as a Man- What Love!
“7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”
“Philippians 2:7-8”
Isaiah 25:1-9
“ 1, O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.
9. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
JESUS WORSHIPPED
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
Matthew 28:16-17
After the resurrection of Jesus He met with His disciples and five hundred others. They worshipped Jesus giving testimony that they believed that Jesus is Divine-God.
BAPTIZED IN THE NAME
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 28:18-20
After living among them using limited power and dependent on the Father as we can be, Jesus now declares He has all power in heaven and in earth. Therefore, He instructs them to go, to teach, and to baptize in the NAME (singular) indicating that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are together ONE united God.
WHO IS ELOHIM?
ELOHIM IS TRANSCENDENT GOD.
Transcendent = beyond comprehension, exceeding the limits of ordinary experience.
“The first Creation account (Gen. 1:1-2:4) presents God as infinitely far from humans, the transcendent God, Elohim, whose name speaks of the supremacy of God. The name Elohim denotes preeminence and strength, and the use of the plural form of the word Elohim expresses the idea of majesty and transcendence.”
John 20
28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"
31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
WHO IS YHWH?
YHWH = God up close and personal.
“The second Creation account (Gen. 2:4-25) presents God as up close and personal, the immanent God YHWH, whose name many believe denotes closeness and relationship. The Creation text as a whole is, then, an implicit appeal to worship God; first, to be aware of God’s infinite grandeur and power, and at the same time to acknowledge our dependence on Him because He created us “and not we ourselves” (Ps. 100:3). This is why many of the psalms often associate worship with Creation (Ps. 95:1-6; Ps. 139:13, 14 [compare with Rev. 14:7]).”
APPEARED AS A MAN
THE SON OF DAVID
DAVID CALLED "THE CHRIST" LORD
41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42 saying, "What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "The Son of David."
43 He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him 'Lord,' saying:
44 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool" '?
45 "If David then calls Him 'Lord,' how is He his Son?"
46 And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.
Matthew 22:41-46
ONLY GOD IS WORSHIPED
“ 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians 2:9-11
